How to measure your storeroom for the Perfect Storage Rack Fit
Planning to install a storage rack in your storeroom? Getting the right measurements is key to ensuring a seamless fit. Follow these simple steps to measure your space accurately and choose the ideal rack size.
Steps 1 - Measure Your Walls
Start by measuring the length of each wall—A, B, C, and D—using a measuring tape. Keep these tips in mind:
- Measure from floor level, as some storerooms have skirting along the walls.
- Take measurements from skirting to skirting for accuracy.
- Allow a small buffer (1–2 cm) instead of fitting the rack too tightly.
- Most HDB ceilings are around 2.6 meters high, and standard storage racks are typically 2 meters tall—making them a great fit.
- If there’s a switch box or circuit panel in the storeroom, factor that into your planning.

Steps 2 - Choose the First Rack for Wall B
Begin with the shorter wall (Wall B) and determine the best rack size for this space. Generally:
- A smaller rack with a depth of 40–50 cm works well.
- Opting for a 40 cm depth allows for a longer rack on Wall A.

Steps 3 - Select the Second Rack for Wall A
Once Rack 1 is placed on Wall B, measure the remaining space on Wall A to determine the size of Rack 2. If space allows, go for a deeper 50 cm rack for maximum storage.
Steps 4 - Review your Rack Choices

Before finalizing your selection:
- Consider adjusting Rack 1’s depth (e.g., from 40 cm to 50 cm) and check how it affects Rack 2’s size.
- Ensure the setup is both practical and within your budget.
